IX7511 Project Management for Business Administration – classic

The classic format (three days face-to-face and team work).

This course is a combination of:

  • short presentations,
  • labs run individually,
  • case studies (by groups of two students),
  • team works (by groups of four students),
  • discussions.

For each topic addressed, the following three types of situations are reviewed:

  • simple situations where common sense is key,
  • intermediate situations where management of human aspects is essentials,
  • complex situations where management of human aspects has to be supplemented with adequate tools and techniques.

This course is an opportunity for students to review cases, but also to create their own cases.

IX7511-LO1:

  • Review and analyse tools to review project definition, plan and performance.

IX7511-LO2:

  • Evaluate communication approach for project tactical steering and direction.

Total Learning time 36 hours:

  • 21 hours contact time
  • 15 hours independent study (team project construction and review).

Students are expected to attend all lectures/seminars and review engage with online learning resources.

Learning outcome IX7511-LO1 is assessed through:

  • successful participation in the course labs and case studies (20%),
  • final Multiple Choice Questionnaire (40%).

Learning outcome IX7511-LO2  is assessed through:

  • a group presentation (20 minutes presentation and 5 minutes Q&A) of a project plan (30%),
  • a group evaluation of project plan proposals (presented by other groups): 10%.

IX7511-C2.1: Project management decisions

Participation in presentations and labs on project control zones.

IX7511-C2.2: Negotiation of resources

  • Participation to team work for the construction of resource allocation using Project Management software tools.
  • Identification of project control zones for the team project.

IX7511-C2.3: Managing execution deviations

  • Participation in presentations and labs on broken line.

IX7511-C2.4: Anticipating variance at completion

  • Participation in presentations and labs on milestone trend analysis.
  • Participation in case study (Two to three students per team for the case study).

IX7511-C3.1: Earned Value Management (EVM) introduced

  • Participation in presentations and labs on EVM KPIs (Earned Value Management Key Performance Indicators).

IX7511-C3.2: Integration of time and cost management in projects

  • Participation in presentations and case study.
  • Participation in review of results.
  • Two to three students per team for the case study.

  • Participation in presentations and labs Project Management Our Around Time.

  • Discussion of case analyzed in team.
